Turning Off Autopilot

Routine is helpful until it disarms spontaneity. Optimization is ideal until it eliminates adaptability. Comfort is soothing until it encourages complacency. Predictability is the enemy of progress—so let’s seek uncertainty instead.

ABOUT

Who is Ferg?

Hey, my name is Charles Ferguson. Most of my friends call me Ferg. I appreciate that you’ve made it this far down the page before I introduce myself.

I’m a wanderer, nomad, whatever you want to call it. Titles don’t hold much weight while vagabonding—experiences do.

These days, you can find me wearing varying hats: freelance writer, foreign language coach, and, at times, vineyard hand.

The latter probably needs more explanation.

Click below for that.

FERG’S FOCUS

Avoiding Autopilot with Uncertainty

Taking off across borders can feel liberating in many ways. Free of responsibilities, social pressures, and personal history, many a traveler encounters a crossroads of ethics that demands an answer.

What is the purpose of my journey?

Relaxation? Family? Food? Nightlife? Eiffel Tower?

These elements, while valid, can only carry us so far—especially when in a long-term chapter with an undefined end date.

That is why I created Ferg’s Focus: To explore how we can frame our travels to achieve the best versions of ourselves. Read the newsletter below.

CONTENT

Stories, Videos, Meditations, Etc…

Ever wonder what it’d be like to sail up the Amazon River? Or what the streets are like when Argentina wins a World Cup Final? Or even how the Brazilian favela was first formed?

Moving around ignites curiosity in ways nothing else can.

Check out my articles and videos covering all things travel from serendipitous adventures to existential meditations.

As the settings change, so do I—but no matter the topic, it will always be tied to actualizing self-potential through travel.
